Our free event, open for everyone to attend, is in Lochgelly on 17 October 2019
We are pleased to announce that our 64th event will start at 7.30 p.m. and finish at 9.30 p.m. on Thursday 17 October 2019 in The Old Ship Inn, Lochgelly. The doors open at 7.00 p.m. A bar is available.
Spike (Richard) Munro
Spike is a former Drama teacher with a musical background is a seasoned Performance Poet from Edinburgh. He is known for his distinct Scottish set and an ability to charm an audience with his engaging personality. He has performed at many festivals, in bars, at parties, public events and in the members room of the Scottish Parliament. Cheeky and irreverent, cutting but not catty, he flits between humour and pathos with the occasional dash of ribaldry and double entendre. And works regularly in collaboration with Joss Cameron with whom he founded the popular duo Balladonia.
Dunfermline writer Linda spent her working life in journalism and public relations. Over a number of years, her short stories and poetry have appeared in magazines, e-zines and anthologies, including New Writing Dundee, East Lothian Life, Northwards Now, Contour, Domestic Cherry, Algebra of Owls, Green Queen, Paper Swans and The Writers’ Café, and she has won a number of prizes for her work. Her first collection of poetry, Epiphanies, was published in 2009 and Into the Light, a collection of poems and short stories, was published in 2014. Her first novel, A Unicorn on The Meadows, was published in 2018.
Cody is a singer-songwriter from Fife. Taking influences from many genres, her music is probably best described as Alternative Rock with a touch of Pop. Over the last few years she has played at venues all over Fife, Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as performing on The Riverside Show on STV Glasgow. Most recently, Cody took to the stage at The Kingdom FM Local Hero Awards Cermony 2019 where she also won the Award for the ‘Home Grown Talent’ category. Cody has recently played at top venues including King Tuts Wah Wah Hut as well as performing at The Barrowlands Ballroom. She released her new single ‘Satisfaction’ in September 2019 which has already been named Single of the Week on Rapal at BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal. We invite you to apply for one of the 3 Open Mic slots of 5 minutes, on offer. There will also be one reserve slot. For those wishing to take part – your talent may, typically, be as a comedian, musician, novelist or short story writer, performer, poet, scriptwriter or singer and your ability can be from beginner to professional. Please supply a single sentence that describes your performance.

Location and Parking
The Old Ship Inn is located at 89 High Street, Lochgelly – see the map on their facebook page. Car parking is available on-street. It is a 10 minute walk, south, from the town centre. The 33 bus route from Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy is here. A bar is available.
