Julien Pearly (Photo by Malcolm McLean)
Julien Pierrefeu is a French 37-year-old Self-Employed Singer-Songwriter / Filmmaker based in Scotland since 2001 with both freelance and agency experience across the Entertainment, Cultural and Education Sectors. His song-writing journey under the name of Julien Pearly started in 2003 at Edinburgh open mic Out of the Bedroom. Since then he played wherever he travelled to in the troubadour tradition.
After a few years of experimental music his style evolved into a mix of romantic waltz, Frenglish lyrics and folk instruments. When he can he enjoys playing fully unplugged for more freedom of movement and quality of acoustic. He started making films in 2009 while documenting the Scottish Capital Live Music scene until he moved to Dunfermline in 2015 where he attends the local folk club and explores the ancient history through his cinematic eye. He is also the creator of Live Films, a platform to combine the dynamic reality of the performing arts with the dreamlike projection of cinema, which was part of the Outwith Festival 2018. We invite you to apply for one of the 3 Open Mic slots of 5 minutes, on offer. There will also be one reserve slot.
