26 July Gig – Markinch – Performers and Open Mic

Our 52nd event, open for everyone to attend, is in Markinch on 26 July 2018

 We are pleased to announce that our 52nd event will start at 7.30 p.m. and finish at 9.30 p.m. on Thursday 26 July 2018 in Banner’s House Hotel in Markinch. The doors open at 7.00 p.m. A bar is available.


“Holly” Barr

American author Sue Hollister Barr’s first publishing credits included a conventionally published novel that’s still selling and The New York Times.  With a raunchy / bohemian flair, her current science fiction books are full of the eclectic mix of sentiment and mature dark humour that best expresses her own personality.  She loves unexpected character / story arcs, fun reveals, fast action, and Scotland…where she spends her summers.  In addition to her publications, “Holly” is a veteran editor and creative writing instructor, along with being an active member of Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America.  Her light / fun episodic fiction is often given away for free at suehollisterbarr.com

Evelyn K Stewart

Home Grown in Scotland Evelyn draws on life’s adventures to write envoking pieces of spoken word that takes you on a journey from the heart. Her work is a collection of her eclectic life and experiences and aims to express emotion and to captivate your imagination whilst giving you a different perspective on the world. Some of her work has been included in anthology collections published by Poetry Now and Anchor books. A R Crow

AR Crow is a poet, performer and junior psychiatrist from Glasgow, now based in Dundee. They have been a featured performer at events including Loud Poets, Inn Deep Poetry, The Goddamn Debut Slam, Last Monday at Rio, Queer Theory, Spangled Cabaret, Words and Music and Express Yourself, and competed in this year’s Scottish Slam finals. Haystack Monolith

Haystack Monolith is the new solo project from Mark of St. Kilda Mailboat. With his modest nylon strung guitar and occasional electronics, he hatches myths, sagas and fanciful tales.

Open Mic

We invite you to apply for one of the 3 Open Mic slots of 5 minutes, on offer. There will also be one reserve slot. For those wishing to take part – your talent may, typically, be as a comedian, musician, novelist or short story writer, performer, poet, scriptwriter or singer and your ability can be from beginner to professional. Please supply a single sentence that describes your performance.

Location and Car Parking

Banners House Hotel is located at 1 High Street, Markinch – see website. Car parking is available on-street. The railway station is a 2 minute walk away and there is a bus stop 30 yards away. A bar is available.
